SWCPA staff pick, Nature, South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year
I took the photo on the 22nd June last year on the cliff behind Durdle Door walking West towards the hill at Scratchy Bottom. I was staying on the Lulworth estate for a one week holiday exploring the Jurassic Coast, where I walked the SWCP in some sections from Lulworth to Lyme Regis. I took this image simply because butterflies are my passion and have observed them for decades and recorded them overseas. It was infact walking the SWCP as a boy at Slapton from Torcross to Strete that caught my enthusiasm, watching the Clouded Yellows fly up and down that long stretch during “Clouded Yellow years” got me interested and I wanted to learn more about them.
